Two Top Terrific Books of 2023

Today I went on the Amazon website and saw that there was a section of Meghan Trainor’s Favourite Recent Reads. Now at the moment I cannot share photos on my website which I am working on and will get more data on Wednesday but I couldn’t help but publish this article ASAP!

I clicked on the banner and there are two books that she recommended in which I aim to get soon so I can do a book review on them. I will see if they are at the local library on Thursday too, but here they are. They are the following:

  1. Change your Brain, Change your Life

BRAIN PRESCRIPTIONS THAT REALLY WORK

In this breakthrough bestseller, you’ll see scientific evidence that your anxiety, depression, anger, obsessiveness, or impulsiveness could be related to how specific structures in your brain work. You’re not stuck with the brain you’re born with. Here are just a few of neuropsychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen’s surprising–and effective–“brain prescriptions” that can help heal your brain and change your life:

To Quell Anxiety and Panic:

¸ Use simple breathing techniques to immediately calm inner turmoil
To Fight Depression:
¸ Learn how to kill ANTs (automatic negative thoughts)
To Curb Anger:
¸ Follow the Amen anti-anger diet and learn the nutrients that calm rage
To Conquer Impulsiveness and Learn to Focus:
¸ Develop total focus with the “One-Page Miracle”
To Stop Obsessive Worrying:
¸ Follow the “get unstuck” writing exercise and learn other problem-solving exercises

2. What Happened to You?: Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing

Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain development and trauma expert, Dr Bruce Perry, discuss the impact of trauma and adverse experiences and how healing must begin with a shift to asking ‘What happened to you?’ rather than ‘What’s wrong with you?’.

Through wide-ranging and often deeply personal conversation, Oprah Winfrey and Dr Perry explore how what happens to us in early childhood – both good and bad – influences the people we become. They challenge us to shift from focusing on ‘What’s wrong with you?’ or ‘Why are you behaving that way?’ to asking ‘What happened to you?’. This simple change in perspective can open up a new and hopeful understanding for millions about why we do the things we do, why we are the way we are, providing a road map for repairing relationships, overcoming what seems insurmountable, and ultimately living better and more fulfilling lives.

Many of us experience adversity and trauma during childhood that has lasting impact on our physical and emotional health. And as we’re beginning to understand, we are more sensitive to developmental trauma as children than we are as adults. ‘What happened to us’ in childhood is a powerful predictor of our risk for physical and mental health problems down the road, and offers scientific insights into the patterns of behaviours so many struggle to understand.

A survivor of multiple childhood challenges herself, Oprah Winfrey shares portions of her own harrowing experiences because she understands the vulnerability that comes from facing trauma at a young age. Throughout her career, Oprah has teamed up with Dr Bruce Perry, one of the world’s leading experts on childhood trauma. He has treated thousands of children, youth, and adults and has been called on for decades to support individuals and communities following high-profile traumatic events. Now, Oprah joins forces with Dr Perry to marry the power of storytelling with the science and clinical experience to better understand and overcome the effects of trauma.

In conversation throughout the book, the two focus on understanding people, behaviour, and ourselves in the context of personal experiences. They remove blame and self-shaming, and open up a space for healing and understanding. It’s a subtle but profound shift in our approach to trauma, and it’s one that allows us to understand our pasts in order to clear a path to our future – opening the door to resilience and healing in a proven, powerful way.

Grounded in the latest brain science and brought to life through compelling narratives, this book shines a light on a much-needed path to recovery – showing us our incredible capacity to transform after adversity.

These books may just change your life !!!!!

Hope you enjoyed reading.

Update… … what’s happening rn.

It has been eight months!

Wow!

and O M G, so much has happened. I can’t even remember or know what to begin with! I am wondering really what has happened in between November 2022 and now. I have done a LOT! and you have probably been keeping up to date with my posts on my Instagram. But I have mainly been focusing on my new main Instagram which is emmalisatilli. I have really been focusing on that Instagram as it started out personal and of all my travels but since I have been a singer in 2021 I have created more of a music type account. and I have been absolutely enjoying it and loving it.

I started a novel back in January this year, and I have almost finished a 50,000 word novel!! I am excited to share with you my story. Which is, yes, my story. But it is in a fiction style based on a true story of mine, which I am EAGER to share!!!! I am looking at self-publishing, and I have really dabbled into a creativity of mine which has extended to a fun hobby and more creative aspects of mine. I haven’t been working but I have been studying a Certificate of Naturopathy plus I have started a Makeup course with The Australian Beauty School.

I have also recently started a 30 Day rest program with Arbonne. My friend Amanda Albu got me onto it, and by Day 10 I was feeling less bloated, more energy and feeling so great !

I created some affirmations when I posted on Facebook.

🌸 Be kind to your body

🌸 Set some good health goals

🌸 Treat yourself to something once a week

🌸Create healthy habits, not restrictions

🌸 A healthy outside starts from the inside

These things really help me set the tone for my week. I say these things to myself to really give me purpose and excited that I am taking actionable steps to live a more healthy life. I treated myself to Hungry Jacks last night and after I just didn’t feel that great even though the burger was YUMMY. I am into clean eating and nutritious meals, so my intention is to start a blog or entries where I share more of what I eat and what I get up to with my health. I have a Naturopathy website.

I would love to be more consistent in writing more blogs on personal development and self-growth such as talking about topics on self-love. I have started a self-love program and through Ema Lea Anderson. I have gone more in depth with myself and am more aware that I need more self love every day. I have really learnt to love myself and I feel I have had it all my life from focusing on ME as a single person for YEARS. I would love to come up with more blogs for you. And right now I plan to do more content.

On Wednesday I did a photo shoot with Pickled Roots Photography. Stefano was a lovely man, a pleasure to work with and I really enjoyed doing the shoot outdoors in the Hills – Bells Rapids. I highly enjoyed myself. I will be posting my photos on my Instagram for sure.

I am also wondering if I should do anymore podcasts as most of them I have just read out my blogs that I have previously done and not really come up with my own original content that I haven’t already worked on. I did a podcast on reading some excerpts of my book, Enjoying Life Purpose, but I plan to do more self-development and really get into interesting topics.

One girl that I absolutely love following is Lauren L Barri. She really hones in on weekly plans and to do lists which I absolutely LOVE!

Also, recently, I have changed up my style to a more boho, country and modern look.

I bought lamp from Kmart. and a table for $39 which is really modern and I am really starting to like the minimal look. I have also been into watching soft living videos and am really enjoying The Cottage Fairy.

This video is one of my favourites. Soft living is becoming more and more appealing to me as I was a city girl through and through, and loved the high life and fast pace world. but since being in Perth I have enjoyed what I have been given. It is a small city but there is still so much to do, and I go to a different cafe every time I go out most of the time.

Please have a watch of The Cottage Fairy as I believe you will find it very beautiful. I used to really be into sharing fashion and beauty but I want to focus more on other things now. Personal development is more my thing and I love self-help books. Malama Life is a good one too.

I am reading The Neuroscience of Mindfulness, which is a GREAT book. Great for the mind.

I do love reading and I need to use my time more effectively to read more. I borrow so many books from the library and then before I know it it is due to take back. I love to go to the Joondalup library as it is quite big and has more to it than most in Western Australia. I love doing the library, coffee and study.

I also recently made pumpkin pie which I will share on my Instagram page as at the moment my Gigabyts or data is all used up so I can’t share photos in this blog. Will have to fix that when I get the chance.

I know it is not very appealing if I don’t have photos to make it looks more visual and make the blog look more cool but the thought behind actually blogging is better, as it is challenging to read without having to look at photos. Do you love to read newspapers online? Do you read magazines online? I used to but not so much anymore and I am wondering why. I think my life gets 90 per cent caught up with Instagram. I even found myself on it at 1 o’clock in the morning scrolling through even though it goes into night mode at ten, I kept going on for another fifteen minutes which is easy to do. Do you get caught up with the social media hype? Do you have Twitter? I do, but I hardly use it, I use it for music and promoting my music.

OH! and yes, I just bought a new music track which is inspired by Zara Larsson’s song Can’t Tame Her. It is very edgy, modern pop sounding and I am currently obsessed with it. I highly enjoy her music and style, and also really into Mimi Webb atm.

What I am thinking of doing rn, is…… every morning when I get up I will do my online diary. I will make it a daily thing. Hopefully. Let’s see how long that will last……. or even if I will do it tomorrow. LOL

Sorry about not including photos, but maybe it is a good thing. I wanted to share my lamp and table as I really like the modern look. I will look into getting more GB’s and will work on some more blogs for you.

I really would love to see in your comments what personal development podcasts you listen to. Or what self-help books you are reading or have read.

Please comment and I will add them to my list and/or create a list for my next blog! I think I have an idea

Love,

Emmalisa

Enjoying Life’s Purpose – My new book completed in 2021.

‘Enjoying Life’s Purpose’

Last year I was inspired to sit down and write a book on ‘purpose’. That topic just means not just so much to me, but it is a topic that a lot of people resonate with in life, and we are always searching for meaning in what we do, what our plans and dreams and goals are.

I am hoping that some of the quotes I have used resonate with you and give you a great perspective in your spiritual life.

The book I wrote was called “Enjoying life’s purpose”. I dedicated it to my beautiful friend Adam and he even said my book was incredible and that he thought it was literally world class. Now that I think about it I have no idea how I did it. I felt it was a spiritual thing. Words pouring out while I type and just letting it flow and manifest in the way that it was meant to be.

It also is a journal where you can apply life applications with questions to do with certain paragraphs I wrote. The chapters were sectioned off with titles such as “Just purpose”, “Enjoying goal setting”, “A rich experience in purpose” …

What do you think of when you hear that word ‘purpose’? When I look at that word, I think of heading somewhere with an action plan in mind or even a goal. I completely love this word and I am not sure why but there is something behind that word that shows authenticity and is real.

There are three definitions that you can find to do with this word, and the first is ‘the reason for which something is done or for which something exists’. The second definition is ‘a person’s sense of determination’ and the third can be to ‘have one’s intention’.

You can merely exist in the world and not have purpose, trudging through life with no sense of direction or plan or goal. There MUST be a reason as to simply why you were put on this earth and that you were created FOR a purpose. Purpose can have such a wide interpretation and meaning to it. If you were to brainstorm or set out a map or blueprint of your life, what would your life’s purpose be like?

What are your plans? Your life goals? I have SO many, I absolutely LOVE to create plans and goals and especially when it comes to my music goals. This has been a huge strength for me in the past, for example, I have written down music goals with releasing a single in mind in 2021. I released Mood to Party, and I am now on the way to releasing a seventh. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would put into place something that has created SUCH purpose in my life! It has brought excitement and I love to communicate my goals with others to show that I can have a plan full of purpose with these goals set out in my mind.

Purpose matters. It can be something we can never describe or imagine. It is unfathomable. Our minds cannot comprehend the purpose and heart of what life can offer. To reach for the stars literally means that we can do anything in life. It is not just about ‘belief’, it is having that goal in mind, planning it and acting. This I discuss more about in chapter 10 on goal setting which would help with your personal development!

Learning to enjoy life’s purpose is a journey. Filled with faith, love, joy, and peace. We are a people of destiny and prioritising goals, and things keep our minds in action.

Purpose brings alignment to our minds, body and spirit. And having this should allow us to foster a deeper commitment to the Universe. Manifesting what is ours. To seek with all our hearts a purpose of life. We can manifest abundance, self-growth, self-development and so many other things if we know what our purpose is.

Purpose gives us LIFE according to the universes purpose.

I read a book called ‘Enjoy – Finding the freedom to delight in Gods good gifts by Trillian Newbell and it was a fantastic read and thoroughly enjoyed writing a book review blog on it. It is a faith-illustrative, scriptural based book on experiencing the fullness of life. I was inspired by writing this blog that I wrote the review in my book, and I felt a strong connection to the book for my book which resonated a lot with me.

Joy is something that is nurtured and developed within us. It was a therapeutic type of book. The writing style I was able to read, and I read it within about an hour online, taking quotes and paragraphs to write the blog with inspiration. She talked about gifts in which I believe is intended for our enjoyment. In which I am truly learning the fit of writing, even music!

We can experience the fullness of enjoyment as we use our gifts daily. We can and should ‘enjoy, delight and rejoice!’ I delight in painting, watercolour and oil plus music and theatre and a wide variety of activities and interests. It is nice to have that huge variety so that it keeps you busy in life.

Enjoying things should be something we should have in our lives. I am currently taking up an interest in wanting to plant herbs, and Naturopathy (Alternative Medicine) even reading books on Neuroscience. Whatever gives you that rush of enjoyment, do it! It gives you absolutely purpose in that pleasure of actioning things you enjoy.

There must be purpose for us to make sense of the world and that we can easily fall into the snare of discontentment. It would make life very hard to live if you are not feeling content within yourself. Life was created for us to enjoy, so, do things for yourself that would TRULY make you feel that sense of JOY! Schedule a coffee date of brunch with a friend, make a beautiful wholesome meal for someone, bake a cake, this will also give you joy to serve and do things for others and leave you with satisfaction.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing my book, Enjoying Life’s purpose, and it gave ME purpose. Someone said to me, well, Adam, my friend whom I dedicated the book to, said to me to focus on my strengths and he thinks I should focus on being an author, in which I truly do believe! As much as I want a music career. He said my writing was JUST as good as my music. And that filled me up with so much happiness.

I have learnt to enjoy the ride of life and I honestly hope you do too. Find that purpose, Find your nice and what you enjoy the most and stick to it. Get unstuck. Stagnancy ruins and stops us from achieiving our purpose in life, so I say, grab at it and life!!

Find books on purpose and enjoyment. Make a list. Write it in your notebook, and you will find so much satisfaction.

Remember the four steps to purpose.

  1. Vision
  2. Priorities
  3. Goals
  4. Action plan

I could talk more about those four things, but it is written in the book. The book will eventually be published by Austin MacAuley, and it currently in production process right now. I don’t know when it will be published, but it may possibly have success. And I plan on submitting an application to a Christian bookstore, Koorong.

I hope you enjoyed reading and if you would like to know more about my book or anything else I have written, let us know and I can create a Part Two for you!

A Simple Modern Timeless Bedroom Twist – BEDROOM TOUR

Featured

Recently I have had to move bedrooms in our house and I have never worked so hard in my life. Moving pianos, furniture and bookcases etc to get everything rearranged and sorted and organised.

I haven’t had time to blog, filling up a lot of time with appointments during the day and medical stuff it has all been quite hectic for a different reason. I used to get bored, but life has been filled with new and different things which is what I had hoped for.

I finally moved to a different part of the house and can now relax. So will give you a little tour of my bedroom, as I hope you like it.

I got rid of a lot of stuff and sent them to op shops, anything designer I kept, of course. But I had to chuck out Jo Malone boxes and I even got rid of a Union Jack rug as it won’t suit what I have done. My taste has completely changed recently for some reason and I like the fact that you can turn something simple into something elegant and modern at the same time.

I think I have chosen a classic look.

The first thing you see when you walk into my room is the white desk with laptop on charge and music books and my CD’s on display.

Can you see my lavender pot just peeking through the white blinds?

I have a view!

Well, of the front garden… …

I have a little music section where I have my digital piano and my record player. Of course my first ever vinyl record was Katy Perry’s recent album released “Smile”. Fun fact: My next single which I will be releasing I used “Harley’s in Hawaii” as a song reference for it! but it has a bit of an r&b twist/sound to it, which is exciting. Anyways, enough about that….. Let’s get back to the room.

My wonderful Clover White Bookcase from Early Settlers has been one of my favourite objects in the room as it is filled with….. well, … books! My recent post 7 Tips on how to get motivated and feel unstuck and feel your best in 2021 in which you should definitely have a read! It is filled with some great tips and ideas on how to feel inspired and not stagnant in life. My current book I am reading was inspired by it, Seize the Day – Living on purpose and making every day count by Joyce Meyer which you can buy from Koorong Bookstore in Mount Lawley or online for around $20.

Having a more modern classic looking bed has really been a game changer for me. I also love my white fluffy throw rug that I can curl up in when watching TV, and I love the bedspread and quilt pattern. It has that filigree elegant look and still a hint of a royal appearance.

I really love the small cushion with the silhouette of a lady as it gives that more elegant look.

Isn’t it just stunning!

With the move I got given a white set of drawers to keep and it is big enough to put in necessities and casual dresses etc. I decorated it with a cream decoration of an Eiffel Tower and a Paris Box, and then I have my bathroom essentials on the left hand side at the top of it. The long thin mirror to the right I will be painting white when I can as I still like to keep the room white and black a little bit.

I like to keep things decorative!

So I decided to buy a bedside table that matched with my bookcase. I love how it all matches and I now keep things simple with one book on the bedside table instead of all piled up.

Then I have a rack of clothes alongside the storage unit.

I don’t have a wardrobe which I didn’t like at first, but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

I actually quite like it. It keeps things simple and I don’t have to store random junk up in a wardrobe filled with stuff you don’t actually probably need. I kept old royal books, Britain Magazines, Royal Magazines even a Harry and Megan Wedding book I got in England. Op shop time again….

It is best to keep things simple. Declutter your life, even I learnt that in “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. You learn a lot from Becky Bloomwood in the end. When you sort through old things that you don’t need it actually feels good to do a huge clean out. I even had London signs up in my room, but at the end of the day, I thought if I really wanted them I could re buy them at an opshop for $4 again, no biggy.

The dressing table was cleaned and I sorted through all my makeup. No flowers on the dressing table this time. I have flowers that I kept on my storage unit where the TV is which we will get to that in a second, but if I wanted flowers I can always buy some more. Fresh ones are on my writing desk, and they were $20 from Woolworths in Aldi in Kingsway here in Perth, Western Australia.

I organised all my eyeshadows together, and then foundation and Hydrating Glow Mist sprays together, and then brushes, mascara, eyeliner are all displayed on the table, and the lipsticks are to the right, in which I bought a Kim Kardashian one which I LOVE! I keep hairspray and a self tanning body lotion plus bronzer from MAC Cosmetics and then makeup remover.

This is the white storage unit I was talking about, and we mounted the TV up on the wall. It is lovely to be able to view from the bed, and yes, I have kept a few Britain magazines to keep to the side. There I have an Instagram Pastbook that was created from all my 2020 images on Instagram and a Victorian and Albert Museum book I created from all the images I took on my I Phone.

The small canvas print is a photo of my three sisters and I. The fabric boxes are great! and easy to chuck clothes in, or any spare things you want to keep from staying on the floor.

This laundry hamper I got yesterday I only got for $40 from Big W, and the picnic basket was $43 from Coweramup which is close to Maragaret River. I had a lovely drive to Dunsborough, and holidayed in the regional south-west of Western Australia in which I will do a separate blog for! So much to talk about, get excited about and see and do when I was there. Will fill you in on the adventure hopefully next week. So, the picnic basket is filled with all my vitamins and supplements and Rolled Oats when I have blueberry yoghurt for breakfast. The books displayed are Diana (about the Princess of Wales), New York in Bloom by Georgianna Lane – lovely, stunning photographs, How to be Parisienne, Love, Style, Life by Garance Dore and The New Fashion Rules by Victoria McGrath (InTheFrow), then you’ve got Althorpe by Charles Spencer, a $9 London book from BigW, Too Beautiful (Beauty Words for the soul) by Elaine Fraser and lastly, The Art of Herbs for Health by Rebecca Sullivan. These are all lovely books to have on display.

I would list all the supplements and products but just simply I have dandelion tea, white lions mane powder, vitamins for energy, hair, nails and skin, Collagen Beauty from NutraOrganics, and a few Isagenix supplements. I recently bought a huge tub of Fish Oil in which I take 2 supplements a day. Please visit my Health Based blog, Emmalisa Tilli Health and Wellness to find out more on what I do.

You can also find me on Instagram.

Thank you for reading and looking at my bedroom tour! That was the most exciting thing that happened to me the past week plus the idea of what is going to be my next single.

Please also visit my Facebook page, Instagram page and website for more details on my music life!

I will try and update my health & wellness blog and music blog as much as I can but I can’t promise anything as I have 2 courses to keep up with! Plus extra music/demo things on the side.

Thank you all for reading since 2015 if you have been a fan of mine since I started. It has been an AMAZING journey and I feel I have gotten better with content over time.

(If you are a writer, and would like to send something for me to review and collaborate with you, send your article to emmalisatilli86@gmail.com @exquisiteemmalisa I would love to work with you!

My TOP 5 Books to read this year in 2021 (PART 1)

The following five books are a few books that I would recommend to read for the year of 2021. I actually have a signed copy by Charles Spencer himself for number 2 which is exciting and thrilling nonetheless.

I am taking my time with these reads as the first one is quite detailed and full of lots of information. Highly interesting and intellectual and I find it knowledgeable and it probably could lean towards the word, scholarly. I added three books in the following picture that aren’t in the blog but I may do something about the book on Victoria by A.N. Wilson. I started reading it in Scarborough and still have yet to finish that one as I went on a rushed shopping day to Koorong not too long ago and bought all those books I blogged about previously.

Here is an account for each book and I hope you enjoy reading! 📖

1. Charles Dickens: A Life by Claire Tomalin

Charles Dickens was a phenomenal writer. His novels are read the world over and he enriched the English Language. He mocked power and greed while speaking up for ordinary people. His public readings brought adoring crowds, and he was seen as a cheerful family man. Yet there was a darker Dickens whose demons drove him to reject his wife, fail his children, break with friends and conduct a secret love affair in his last years. In this book, Claire Tomalin gives us the best account yet of the man, his works, his times and, most of all, his extraordinary genius. It is powerful and remarkable as said by “The Times”.

2. To catch a king – Charles Spencer

How did the most wanted man in the country outwit the greatest manhunt in British History? King Charles I was beheaded in 1649 outside his palace of Whitehall, when his eldest son, Charles, returned in 1651 to fight for his throne, he was defeated by Cromwells armies at the battle of Worcester. Expecting to meet the fate of his father, Charles fled for his life. From hiding in an oak tree to travelling as one half of an eloping couple and observing celebrations of his rumoured demise, he relied on grit, fortitude and good luck to survive.

In this gripping action packed, true adventure story, best selling author Charles Spencer draws on extensive archive material, Pepys account and many others to retell the epic adventure of Charles II.

3. Henry V – William Shakespeare

Henry V is a history play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written near 1599. It tells the story of King Henry V of England, focusing on events immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years’ War.

4. The Children’s Book – A S Byatt

Famous author Olive Wellwood writes a special private book, bound in different colours, for each of her children. In their rambling house near Romney Marsh they play in a story book world but their lives, and those of their rich cousins and their friends, the son and daughter of a curator at the new Victoria and Albert Museum, are already inscribed with mystery. Each family carries its own secrets.

They grow up in the golden summers of Edwardian times, but as the sons rebel against their parents and the girls dream of independent futures, they are unaware that in the darkness ahead they will be betrayed unintentionally by the adults who love them.

The “Irish Times” says the book is “compelling and tremendously enriching an intricate tale, energetically fashioned by a spinning fairy in the attic, an indefatigable storyteller.”

5. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society – Mary Ann Schaffer

It’s 1946. The war is over, And Juliet Ashton has writers block.

But when she receives a letter from Dawsey Adam’s of Guernsey – a total stranger living halfway across the channel, who has come across her name written in a second hand book – she enters into a correspondence with him, and in time with all the members of the extraordinary Guernsey literary potato peel pie society.

Through their letters, the society tells Juliet about life on the island, their love of books and the long shadow cast by their time living under German occupation. Drawn into their irresistible world, Juliet sets sail for the island, changing her life forever.

Please let me know in the comments section which book you would love to read first?

Classic red lipstick makeup with smoky eyes and cat-eye liner is the perfect choice for evening events. In case of daily makeup, all you should do is skip the eye makeup step and replace with slim eyeliner.

Lip makeup tools

To gain the perfect lips with red lipstick, don’t forget to use lip makeup tools such as lip liner and lip brush to apply lipstick steadily on your lips. Lip concealer is another tool you should use to make it easier applying.

Red lip outfits

Classic red lipstick is the popular red tone because it helps you combine outfits easily.

Lip care

Another important factor to make perfect lips with passionate red color of french lipsticks is lip care. Dry lips with flaked skin can’t be ideal to apply any lipsticks. To care for your lips, there are 2 main steps, including exfoliation and moisturization.

Exfoliation

There are some notices about exfoliation you should remember:

  • Exfoliate your lips 1-2 times per week and avoid over exfoliation
  • You can use an exfoliating product for lips or do it yourself with common ingredients such as sugar, cinamon, etc.
  • Treat gently with your lips because it’s rather thin skin and vulnerable. Don’t scrub hard.
  • Scrub in small circles for best effect.

Moisturization

Like other skin parts of our body, lips need to be moisturized for smoothness. There are more moisturizing products for the body and face than lip. In case you have Asian skin, let’s consider these products from Korea. Korean moisturisers that will suit Asian skin now are very easy to buy with affordable prices.

However, there are still thousands of moisturizing products for lips which are called lip balm or lip gloss. In case you want to use organic products for your lips, moisturizing ingredients such as olive oil, honey, etc. can be the perfect choices. You can directly apply them on your lips before sleeping.

Conclusion

French lipsticks definitely deserve the favorite beauty items of most women with high quality, fame and prestige. And their passionate red color of french lipsticks is one of the most important factors making charming, attractive and classy looks of Parisian women.

Brand Collaboration with TOUCHBeauty

I recently received an email from a Brand Collaborator at TOUCHBeauty, the lovely Jenna sent me an email and I was beyond excited to be able to do a review of one of their products at TOUCHBeauty.

I was eagerly awaiting for the package to arrive, and it came on Monday the 26th October which was a bonus to start the week off with!

This product is called the UltraSonic Scrub Device which is also an exfoliating skin scrubber as seen on the website.

This Ultrasonic Scrub Device was easy to put on charge. It came with a cord, and then you place the device on top of a silver spoon looking object where it can sit on top whilst charging. It comes with an Instruction Manual, which tells you how to do things properly, and before using the device you have to ensure that your skin is cleansed thoroughly, and that all makeup is off.

I did this before trying, and then I double tapped the Double Touch Switch button once I felt it was charged enough although it says to charge the device for four hours.

The device came in excellent condition, and it was absolutely clean, and the packaging was all boxed up nicely as you can see in the pictures. So, presentation and appearance was in highly good physical condition.

I then unpacked both objects as seen in the picture, and then plugged in the cord, once charged I double tapped the button, and slid the Intensity Touch Switch bar up with my finger slightly, starting up with the first level,

I tried using the product with that level, but then decided to increase the intensity level. It felt warm against the skin, and moisturised almost.

Using the appliance you have to place the Ultrasonic Spatula blade on the skin at a 30 degree angle and then move slowly on the skin.

Whilst doing this I could feel it working against the skin and you have to massage it against the skin.

It deeply is exfoliates the skin and as said on the website it produces up to 26,000 HZ ultrasonic vibrations per second to cleanse the skin without hurting or damaging the skin.

It also is good for blackhead removal when you put the spatula on it with a light pressure, it clears them using high frequency vibrations to get rid of the sebum and debris out of the pores.

I received this product from TOUCHBeauty in which they pride themselves on having a professional attitude towards the beauty and personal care devices industry. They have twenty years experience in the industry and focus on innovation and high quality products.

Here are 5 points on the device/product:

1. Utilizing cutting-edge technology and award-winning design concepts to cleanse, exfoliate, and massage the skin. It produces up to 26,000 ultrasonica vibration per second to deeply cleanse and exfoliate the skin without hurt or demaging the skin. Note: Please make sure that you wet the face with water before the use.2. It has 2 main functions and features 5 intensity levels adjusting to different skincare needs. You can choose the intensity level that best fits your skin.
3. The pointy side is the cleaning function. Try using it after removing your makeup, and you will see how much makeup residues were hidden on your pores.
4. The flat side is the message function. Boost the absorption of your favorite serum or cream, the vibration will increase blood circulation while promoting relaxation.
5. Wireless charging system and cordless operation. It has a charging dock to charge the device and does not require a cable. Convenient touch operation. If you have longer nails, this will make your life so much easier.

What to Say and How to Do: Writing Victorian Historical Fiction

By Sarah A. Chrisman

A Book Is A Time Machine

A book is the best and cheapest time machine you will ever buy.  As a writer of books about the Victorian era I often think of myself as a tour guide to another time.  When showing my fellow travellers the delights of a foreign time, I always remember the importance of not only knowing the terrain through which we’re travelling, but of being respectful of its people as well.  Something I was once told about understanding modern cultures is just as applicable to understanding cultures defined by time rather than mere distance: on my first day of French class at university the professor opened her very first lecture by telling us, “French people do not say things in French because they mean them in English and just don’t know any better.  French people say things in French because they mean them in French!”  So, too, with people of different eras.  They were not modern people acting certain ways and doing certain things because they didn’t know any better: they were members of a vibrant culture of time.  If you are going to bring strangers into their world to walk amongst them, you must first understand them.

Choose A Destination

Be very clear with yourself about the time and place that form your setting.  The Victorian era was very long and covered an immense diversity of places.  Tombstone, Arizona, of the 1880’s was very different from London of the same time, and Paris of 1900 was a radically different city from Paris of 1848.  A specific choice of where and when you’re going is the first step towards getting there.

Research, Research, Research!

I draft all my manuscripts by hand – a number of interesting studies have shown that the creative process works differently when writing by hand than when typing.  Next to my desk is a wicker basket full of notebooks, and each one is devoted to a different book in my series.  In the back of each of these is a reading list I’ve compiled for myself of materials I want to either read or revisit before I start writing that particular story.  For example, I just finished a novel about a reporter in the American Pacific Northwest in 1889.  Looking at the reading list I assigned myself before I started writing his story, I see the memoirs of a 19th-century journalist; four Victorian-era style guides and two period articles on the subject of how to write for the press; five detective memoirs from the time; two 19th-century novels about journalists; a journalist’s trade magazine; and a number of books, magazines and newspaper articles related to my hero’s personality and the historic events through which he’s living – and this is all just background!  As I write a book, I’m constantly doing still more research and delving deeper into my characters’ world and their motivations.

How do I put together these reading lists?  By constantly reading everything I can about the Victorian era and compulsively taking notes on them.  When I see a quote, fact or witticism that seems like it might fit into a particular story, I’ll jot it down in the notes I’m compiling for that story.  When I come across things that don’t fit with any planned project but are nonetheless worth remembering, I add them to my latest commonplace book.  This may seem like a slow and haphazard way to go about things at first, but once you’ve been at it a while you’ll be amazed at how much information you’ve compiled and how much more you’ve learned than a simple keyword search could have taught you.

Get Your Facts From the Original Sources

Remember what I said about books being time machines and authors being tour guides?  Your research is your tour guide training, and it’s best to get that training first hand.  In other words, read materials actually written in the Victorian era, not just modern things about the Victorian era.  Think about it this way: if you landed a job giving tours of Paris, wouldn’t you rather learn your routes from a native-born Parisian than from someone who’d never been there?

So many written materials of all sorts were produced during the Victorian era there’s really no excuse for not reading some of them.  Try to read the same materials your characters would have been reading.  If you’re writing about a middle-class American woman, read Godey’s magazine or period issues of Good Housekeeping.  If you’re writing humor about late 19th-century London, read the hilarious novel, The Diary of a Nobody.  If your hero’s a doctor read The Lancet; for a nurse read the works of Florence Nightingale.

You can buy a wide variety of antique or reprinted books through websites like Abebooks.com and eBay.  Digital copies of many hard-to-find works can be downloaded for free by using the Google Books Advanced Search function, and you can then print these out and bind them into a hardcopy format.  Don’t forget about period newspapers, too!  Many communities operate digital archives of their periodicals, and these can be absolute goldmines for knowing exactly what was really happening at the precise time of your story.

My favorite resources of all are diaries written in the 19th-century.  A surprising number of these have been published – I highly recommend Maud: The Illustrated Diary of a Victorian Woman.  Large archives often contain original diaries from people associated with their institutions; and if you’re very lucky you can sometimes find original diaries for sale from rare book dealers or even on eBay.  There is no more intimate connection to an era than reading the hand-written diary of someone who lived through it.

Some Travel Tips

Before I send you along on your journeys, oh fellow tour guides, here are a few tips for your journey:

—Avoid Anachronisms.  I don’t need to tell you not to give your Victorian heroine a cell phone.  Be aware, though, that it’s just as inappropriate to give her modern opinions and motivations.  Unless you are literally writing a time travel story DON’T give it a heroine who reads like she just stepped out of the twenty-first century.  Respect the world and culture you’re depicting by learning as much about it as you possibly can, then write characters appropriate to that world.

—Don’t Stereotype.  Don’t insert modern characters into historical settings, but don’t fill those settings with flat clichés, either.  Remember that you are painting a picture of a diverse community where every individual has a complex personal history.  Flesh out those backgrounds for yourself and you can make the world come to life for your readers.

—A Couple Basic Guide Books.  Every work of historical fiction has an entire library behind it, but there are a couple types of books that are useful to every writer of the genre.  You’ll want a period style guide.  My personal favorite is Wolstan Dixey’s The Trade of Authorship from 1889.  (Give particular attention to pp. 74-91, “The Trade”.)  Familiarizing yourself with writing advice from the time will help you settle into a style of your own that feels natural for the period.  Besides this writing guide, you’ll also benefit from a period etiquette guide.  I’m a fan of Hill’s Manual of Social and Business Forms.  This will give you a succinct overview of advice from the time and help you (and your characters) avoid common pitfalls.

Bon Voyage!            Your readers are depending on you to bring them to another time and place.  Be worthy of their trust by learning as much as you can about their destination and presenting it in a respectful and realistic way.  Pleasant journeys and happy trails!
