“Delightful Days in Dunsborough”

Featured

On the 16th and 17th of August I took a trip to the South West of Western Australia. The holiday was set for Dunsborough, but also planned Margaret River and Cowaramup as well. Planning was fun and I loved packing bathers, a book, and dresses even though it was Winter in Australia.

On the way to Dunsborough we stopped of at the Bunbury Markets and I couldn’t believe how big it was! Lots of tomatoes….. plus vegetables, fruits and I got a $10 fruit watermelon juice which was absolutely delicious.

Flowers in Bunbury Markets were gorgeous!

I stopped by to smell the roses.

After about two hours drive from Bunbury, or maybe an hour or so we arrived at the motel which was called the Bay Village Resort and Spa Dunsborough. It was small but a 4 star hotel. I thought it was a cute place and I was able to place my laptop on the round dining table, and relax on the couches while watching The Voice that night. I did my nails, when I went to the Dunsborough Centrepoint shopping centre I bought a nice coloured nail polish, and a few essentials for staying there.

How cute was my little room! All set out elegantly, and nice bathroom towels. It felt luxurious.

We set off on a small adventure on the Monday, but did most things on the Tuesday.

Of course, I found a gorgeous little bookstore that had a book I loved! Text and Co had a lovely lady that I was able to chat with. I went into this store the Monday and Tuesday! and she was delightful to talk to – I was eager to buy a particular book but didn’t yet.

Books Books Books!

On the Tuesday we went straight for coffee at Merchant and Maker which was in the town of Dunsborough, and I loved to look around at the products on display! It is like a general store where they sell health products but also serve tea and coffee etc. You can follow Merchant and Maker on Instagram.

They had a variety of products. I didn’t buy anything, but I enjoyed my Skinny Weak Latte!

Next stop was Indian summer and Co. Which I had a look at the products and candles firstly, but then when I looked at the clothes I was completely drawn to a $50 white dress on SALE!!!! It was stunning, and casual and flows that I felt I HAD to buy it! It was meant to be….. The shop is an Australian brand that have floaty, feminine pieces that give a beauty to women that love to shop all things vintage inspired dresses. You can follow them on Facebook at Indian Summer and Co.

These are the gorgeous products that were on display.

We then went to the Dunsborough Shopping Mall, and I had heard about a Health Food Store, that we decided to check out Naturaliste Health which is on the corner of where there are shops lined along where the car park is.

I had another coffee, and then a Monet Toastie! It was the best toastie I had ever tasted and I am being totally honest.

I loved the little health food store. It was like a stop by place where you can get coffee and food, and also buy products in the store inside.

They do the most amazing IGTV videos on their Instagram page! Full of vibrancy and good energy!

Can you tell the toastie was DELICIOUS!?

We then took off on a drive to Margaret River, and went to Happs Wines. It was like entering into an adventure, it was magical seeing the beautiful scenery, and there wasn’t just wine.

There was pottery! It was like a small museum with lots of knick knacks, and antique looking things. I wasn’t taken by anything as I am not a pottery person but it was interesting going in there.

I headed to the back area where you can probably see on my TikTok that I did some wine tasting. I decided to buy the Fuchsia Happs Wine, as it was soft and fruity and my kind of Rose’! We went to Margaret River town and also Cowaramup and I bought this lovely picnic basket along with some food type goodies.

The book “The Paris Library” was from Text and Co. Yes, I decided to buy the book for $35.

We then went to Stella Bella Wines in Margaret River, and did a bit of wine tasting.

A few vineyards! and the sun was shining on a Winter day! We were so lucky!

After we had experienced these little towns we went back to the motel and I decided to have a little dip in the spa. Well, not a dip, more like sitting…..

Went back to the motel, and got ready to go out and have dinner. We went to a little Thai place that was right next to the motel and I had the usual Chicken and Cashew Nuts! My favourite Thai dish! The restaurant was called Bamboo Spice. You can follow them on their Facebook page Bamboo Spice here.

The next day we had another coffee at Naturaliste Health and another toastie – Thos Monet toasties are just the best! Then headed back home. We stopped by a friends coffee place in Bunbury Paper Route where they supplied the cakes. So I had a Spiced Chai Carrot Cake and took it home! Follow them on Instagram at Paper Route.

The 2 days holiday was amazing and I would do it all over again. In fact, in January I will be going to Busselton so I will be planning to go to all those places again.

I had a ball, and absolutely loved it all! I also bought Dandelion tea from the health food store which is great health wise! Please visit my Health and Wellness website which I will update with a Roast Veggie Pasta recipe up on the blog tonight! Will post on this blog too for your reference, just so you don’t miss out!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the small time I had in Dunsborough. It was “delightful” those two “days”!

A Simple Modern Timeless Bedroom Twist – BEDROOM TOUR

Featured

Recently I have had to move bedrooms in our house and I have never worked so hard in my life. Moving pianos, furniture and bookcases etc to get everything rearranged and sorted and organised.

I haven’t had time to blog, filling up a lot of time with appointments during the day and medical stuff it has all been quite hectic for a different reason. I used to get bored, but life has been filled with new and different things which is what I had hoped for.

I finally moved to a different part of the house and can now relax. So will give you a little tour of my bedroom, as I hope you like it.

I got rid of a lot of stuff and sent them to op shops, anything designer I kept, of course. But I had to chuck out Jo Malone boxes and I even got rid of a Union Jack rug as it won’t suit what I have done. My taste has completely changed recently for some reason and I like the fact that you can turn something simple into something elegant and modern at the same time.

I think I have chosen a classic look.

The first thing you see when you walk into my room is the white desk with laptop on charge and music books and my CD’s on display.

Can you see my lavender pot just peeking through the white blinds?

I have a view!

Well, of the front garden… …

I have a little music section where I have my digital piano and my record player. Of course my first ever vinyl record was Katy Perry’s recent album released “Smile”. Fun fact: My next single which I will be releasing I used “Harley’s in Hawaii” as a song reference for it! but it has a bit of an r&b twist/sound to it, which is exciting. Anyways, enough about that….. Let’s get back to the room.

My wonderful Clover White Bookcase from Early Settlers has been one of my favourite objects in the room as it is filled with….. well, … books! My recent post 7 Tips on how to get motivated and feel unstuck and feel your best in 2021 in which you should definitely have a read! It is filled with some great tips and ideas on how to feel inspired and not stagnant in life. My current book I am reading was inspired by it, Seize the Day – Living on purpose and making every day count by Joyce Meyer which you can buy from Koorong Bookstore in Mount Lawley or online for around $20.

Having a more modern classic looking bed has really been a game changer for me. I also love my white fluffy throw rug that I can curl up in when watching TV, and I love the bedspread and quilt pattern. It has that filigree elegant look and still a hint of a royal appearance.

I really love the small cushion with the silhouette of a lady as it gives that more elegant look.

Isn’t it just stunning!

With the move I got given a white set of drawers to keep and it is big enough to put in necessities and casual dresses etc. I decorated it with a cream decoration of an Eiffel Tower and a Paris Box, and then I have my bathroom essentials on the left hand side at the top of it. The long thin mirror to the right I will be painting white when I can as I still like to keep the room white and black a little bit.

I like to keep things decorative!

So I decided to buy a bedside table that matched with my bookcase. I love how it all matches and I now keep things simple with one book on the bedside table instead of all piled up.

Then I have a rack of clothes alongside the storage unit.

I don’t have a wardrobe which I didn’t like at first, but I am slowly getting the hang of it.

I actually quite like it. It keeps things simple and I don’t have to store random junk up in a wardrobe filled with stuff you don’t actually probably need. I kept old royal books, Britain Magazines, Royal Magazines even a Harry and Megan Wedding book I got in England. Op shop time again….

It is best to keep things simple. Declutter your life, even I learnt that in “Confessions of a Shopaholic”. You learn a lot from Becky Bloomwood in the end. When you sort through old things that you don’t need it actually feels good to do a huge clean out. I even had London signs up in my room, but at the end of the day, I thought if I really wanted them I could re buy them at an opshop for $4 again, no biggy.

The dressing table was cleaned and I sorted through all my makeup. No flowers on the dressing table this time. I have flowers that I kept on my storage unit where the TV is which we will get to that in a second, but if I wanted flowers I can always buy some more. Fresh ones are on my writing desk, and they were $20 from Woolworths in Aldi in Kingsway here in Perth, Western Australia.

I organised all my eyeshadows together, and then foundation and Hydrating Glow Mist sprays together, and then brushes, mascara, eyeliner are all displayed on the table, and the lipsticks are to the right, in which I bought a Kim Kardashian one which I LOVE! I keep hairspray and a self tanning body lotion plus bronzer from MAC Cosmetics and then makeup remover.

This is the white storage unit I was talking about, and we mounted the TV up on the wall. It is lovely to be able to view from the bed, and yes, I have kept a few Britain magazines to keep to the side. There I have an Instagram Pastbook that was created from all my 2020 images on Instagram and a Victorian and Albert Museum book I created from all the images I took on my I Phone.

The small canvas print is a photo of my three sisters and I. The fabric boxes are great! and easy to chuck clothes in, or any spare things you want to keep from staying on the floor.

This laundry hamper I got yesterday I only got for $40 from Big W, and the picnic basket was $43 from Coweramup which is close to Maragaret River. I had a lovely drive to Dunsborough, and holidayed in the regional south-west of Western Australia in which I will do a separate blog for! So much to talk about, get excited about and see and do when I was there. Will fill you in on the adventure hopefully next week. So, the picnic basket is filled with all my vitamins and supplements and Rolled Oats when I have blueberry yoghurt for breakfast. The books displayed are Diana (about the Princess of Wales), New York in Bloom by Georgianna Lane – lovely, stunning photographs, How to be Parisienne, Love, Style, Life by Garance Dore and The New Fashion Rules by Victoria McGrath (InTheFrow), then you’ve got Althorpe by Charles Spencer, a $9 London book from BigW, Too Beautiful (Beauty Words for the soul) by Elaine Fraser and lastly, The Art of Herbs for Health by Rebecca Sullivan. These are all lovely books to have on display.

I would list all the supplements and products but just simply I have dandelion tea, white lions mane powder, vitamins for energy, hair, nails and skin, Collagen Beauty from NutraOrganics, and a few Isagenix supplements. I recently bought a huge tub of Fish Oil in which I take 2 supplements a day. Please visit my Health Based blog, Emmalisa Tilli Health and Wellness to find out more on what I do.

You can also find me on Instagram.

Thank you for reading and looking at my bedroom tour! That was the most exciting thing that happened to me the past week plus the idea of what is going to be my next single.

Please also visit my Facebook page, Instagram page and website for more details on my music life!

I will try and update my health & wellness blog and music blog as much as I can but I can’t promise anything as I have 2 courses to keep up with! Plus extra music/demo things on the side.

Thank you all for reading since 2015 if you have been a fan of mine since I started. It has been an AMAZING journey and I feel I have gotten better with content over time.

(If you are a writer, and would like to send something for me to review and collaborate with you, send your article to emmalisatilli86@gmail.com @exquisiteemmalisa I would love to work with you!

7 Tips on how to get motivated and feel unstuck & feel your best in 2021

Featured

Do you feel like your world is becoming sluggish? Do you think you need extra motivation, and becoming dry in your personality and/or character?
Are you wanting more self/personal development happening in your life?
feeling demotivated? inactive? Flat? Lifeless? Slack?

All these things mean you could be coming stagnant. I don’t know about you, but I have been lately, and it is something that I don’t want, or even need!

I thought I would write Seven tips on how to get motivated and feel your best.

Here is 7 tips to get yourself motivated daily or weekly to perform your best.

Let’s start with productivity.

1. Clean up your desk space.

Bring out your pretty stationary, stapler, paper clips etc and maybe buy a print on Etsy and frame that would be a nice decoration on your writing desk. Wipe your computer screen. Clean your keyboard. Clean your laptop. Change your desktop wallpaper to something pretty. Get a small vase and some fake flowers and put it beside your computer. Organise your papers and pens and put them in their proper place. E.G. pen holder, paper trays etc.

2. Read a motivational book.

I could list a NUMBER of books that could help in this arena.

Read something like an inspiring story. I bought “Seize the day” by Joyce Meyer and it was something that I badly wanted to get because it was to do with purpose. When I felt I was becoming stagnant I realised it’s because I don’t have much purpose. And that’s what I need.

Here is a list of books to get you motivated:

Think like a monk

Girl, stop apologising – Rachel Hollis

Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance – Angela Duckworth

Key to Success: How to Be Successful and the Habits of Successful People

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck – Mark Manson

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life – Jen Sincero

Big Magic: How to Live a Creative Life, and Let Go of Your Fear – Elizabeth Gilbert

Reading motivational books is so fulfilling and rewarding for your mind and general health and wealth. It abundantly gives you gems and sparks of words that appeal to the brain when reading. When I see a quote that pops out at me, I always have to share it on my Instagram Exquisite Emmalisa page or Emmalisa Tilli page. It also keeps you progressing and advancing. I don’t know about you, but having to read personal development books is what keeps me going in life, and self-growth is so important, and having those quotes and/or statements are what makes you endure life.

3. Write a To-Do List.

The best thing for productivity is to write a to do list, or even write a plan of the day. That is what I try my best to do almost every day to keep my mind and life on track.

For example, it may look like this:

  • Finish Assignment 7, question 4
  • Read my book The Mind Gut Connection
  • Call (family/friend)
  • Appointment/s for the day
  • Work on blog post
  • Type 1000 words for current book project

That is an example of what my day looks like. This is a daily example of mine, and is what I am doing for today, and I create a box, so that it is easier to get tasks done, so that I look at it, and see what has been done and what’s not.

Writing lists creates an efficient and effective day, and I am sure that is the most inspiring thing that everyone wants to do!

4. Eat Healthy

Make sure you are feeling your body and nourishing it with wholesome foods. Too much take away and Uber Eats can actually affect your mood and overall health. I recently started ordering Uber Eats three times a week or more, and I got a blood test and the results were that my cholesterol was way too high at 7.2. To lessen this I started to make a salad with cabbage in as it apparently lowers cholesterol. I highly recommend reading The Mind Gut Connection by Emeran Mayer. I have just started it and it is a brilliant read on how our mental state is affected by our gut health. It is almost like having two brains. The way you fuel and feed your body and gut/stomach affects your main brain in your head. So, once you have started eating healthy it generally lifts up your mood. One thing I find is that smoothies can refresh your body as well. My most top blog post is Sweet Sunday Smoothie

5. Do some calming meditation

I highly recommend this app called “Calm”. It has many sleep stories and is great for the brain when resting. There are other apps you can use for meditation, and you can simply just go onto YouTube and look up tutorials on:

Yoga

Pilates

Daily Mindfulness Meditation

10 minute meditation for anxiety

Things like this really help for those that struggle to keep a balance through out the day. I think its good to switch off technology and social media for 10-20 minutes DAILY if you want to be successful in life. You’re not going to become successful in productivity and/or being your best if you sit on your bum scrolling through Facebook and Instagram all day. Yes, they’re put there as a platform for connection and social connection/social networking/forums, but if you want to be successful you do have to learn to switch off at some point as it gives you rest and helps you refresh the/your mind. So that you can move onto better accomplishments.

6. Post your achievements on social media once you’re done!

I think that this is a FABULOUS idea. When I received my Certificate III in Library and Information Services in the post, I posted it on Facebook and I had so many people saying congratulations, it felt like I really did do something rewarding after I decided to post it on social media! I felt like I had REALLY achieved something great, and it was a good feeling. the process of the course took longer than expected but I pushed through, and the end result was amazing! I really did feel proud of myself and I will be doing this when I have my song on Spotify on the 9th July 2021. When Mood to Party is released I will be posting on Facebook for all my wonderful friends to see!!!!! and I am sure that will give me a proud feeling. If you have completed a short course, diploma or university course, share it. Instagram and Facebook are great platforms for that. and if you have done something like get your L’s or your P’s/drivers license, share it with the world! Be proud and look how far you have come and achieved.

7. Lastly, Take a walk

I did this just yesterday at Hyde Park in Perth Western Australia, and it was the best feeling. You will notice I stopped by a greenery structured area on my Instagram page, and I decided to wear a summery dress in the middle of winter. I wanted to bring some sunshine into my life!!! It was sunny outside even after it rained, and decided to go to Hyde Park, grab a skinny weak latte and nibble on a jam donut (whilst getting swooped by a duck that stole the rest….). Taking a walk does wonders for your mental health. it brings clarity, focus and stability. Your mind feels so much better when doing so and increases your cardiovascular fitness. and your heart rate which improves your heart health. It assists you with maintaining a healthy weight and lowers any risk of disease. So! Doing this can do so much for your general and overall well being. I highly recommend you take a walk at least once to twice a week if you can and bonus if you can do it three to four times a week! You will be fit and on your way to more happiness if you do! I used to be great at walking especially on the treadmill at the gym, but I must say I haven’t exercised like I should the past few years compared to when I was in my 20’s.

I hope you find these things helpful and that you enjoyed reading. Please have a look at the list of books to read, and make sure you jot them down for resources and you can highlight and write notes when reading to help further your personal development / self – growth.

Change and consistency is key. If you don’t change anything in your life you will always become stagnant, and dry. So, try change things up a bit! Take a vacation….. Then do your hard work. and stop procrastinating. You’re not alone in this, as millions of people around the world go through stagnancy, and motivating yourself is knowing yourself. what things keep you on your toes and continue on with creativity, and purpose.

I am currently writing a christian personal development / self-help/development book in which I have done 14,000 words and I am SO happy that I thought I would share that achievement on the blog! There! That’s ONE way to share!

So I hope you take these seven things and use them for inspiration. And out what inspires you the MOST! and go with it. Start small, and build on that. Don’t forget, inspiration is key for getting rid of a stagnant life, and knowing what inspires you whether its creative or whatever. Do that thing. Figure it out. Write down a plan. a daily planner or a weekly planner/to do list, and you’ll do great!!!

P.S. Someone recently today gave me some great advice and said the following:

“Don’t compare yourself to others, whether it would be lifestyle or personality. We are each unique, and should embrace that.”

My love for Music

So, I have been wanting to come up with some fresh and NEW content for you! And something that is totally new and different. I was talking with a friend and she said, why don’t you just talk about what you enjoy the MOST! And I said, well, that is music but I didn’t know “how” to do a blog post about it. She suggested I come up with the idea that I write a post about my love for music, and that’s when I decided I will work on it for my audience.

I decided to title the blog post “My love for Music”, because it is just that simple.

I love music.

I live and breath music.

I grew up in a very musical home and my Dad was a worship leader for many years and was even in a non christian band The Flying Fonzarelli’s, before he went to church. Fast forward 30 plus years and he became a Radio Announcer for Triple M. He has interviewed people like Joel Quartermaine from Eskimo Joe, Samantha Jackson (Mel Gibson’s personal trainer), just to name a few!

Growing up in a house where music was played constantly, there were various genres played, from your 70’s disco sounds like ABBA, to the 80’s Madonna era to the 90’s (your early years of Mariah Carey era).

I have so many artists that I would love to share that are my favourite, it would honestly fill up probably 10 pages, but I don’t want to give you a list and bore you to death. I will write down a list of favourite artists in my next blog post just for fun!

Someone said to me the other day, along the lines of, “Music is the number one thing you want to do”. I didn’t say anything, but that person knew me well.

I currently am working on a music project and am working on releasing a single “Mood to party” in which I wrote the lyrics and then when I went to Artisan Music in Malaga on the 8th of April 2021, the producer Patrick Carre helped me change lyrics and melodies from the collaboration I did with Bobby Gray at The Artist studio in Sydney (via Zoom videos).

I will be going back this Wednesday on the 28th of April to finalise the song and re perform it with the new lyrics and melodies Patrick and I came up with. I am really looking forward to recording in the studio. I have a website showcasing my songs and covers that I have done and I have also showed several of my demo’s on SoundCloud. You can find it on Emmalisa Tilli Music.

It really is exciting for me, and I have never had such a wonderful project to work on. The best and most fun part is coming up with the cover artwork for the single, in which I believe I will definitely be using my creative right brain when it comes to it. I have SO many ideas, and I can’t wait to do a photo shoot for it!!!

So, it’s more than exciting and my heart wants to burst at the fact that I am ACTUALLY recording in a proper recording studio! I am looking forward to the final results, and when done it will be on Spotify for you to have a listen. I will update my website with the song and also my Facebook and Instagram page which is both “Emmalisa Tilli Music”.

Have a listen to my FIRST ever demo here. It is called “Raise it up“.

I have done several demo’s and am considering on whether to record all songs and put on an EP or an album. I love my song “LOVE” because of the rhythm and the beat. It is probably my favourite, but I chose “Mood to Party” as my first single because it was one of my favourites too. Out of all the demo’s/songs I did, it really grabbed my attention the most, and it’s a bit of a dance type song so I really hope that when it comes out, you will be able to groove to it, and find it fun!

The songs that I have done demos with are a very dance pop feel, but my first non christian song I ever wrote actually has a rock style to it. I haven’t done the music, just the words, but its a very special song to me, because I stopped writing for many years because of a busy lifestyle. As a teenager, I wrote a lot out of spirituality and from the heart. I think I stopped writing music at 19 because then and after I was working either full time or studying part time and working part time plus church activities. I won’t be giving away my first song title that I wrote because I want it to be a surprise! The song has to be a surprise! It’s going to take a long time to get the recording done, but if ABBA takes 18 months to produce a single, then it can wait too.

I have done a Singer/Songwriter course through Talent College, and I learnt about warming up your vocals and different techniques.

I also learnt about establishing your own unique brand and sound, Melody and Chords, Designing and Writing for yourself, Effective Collaborations that boost your profile and Recording your own material and presenting ideas.

My favourite part was the Goal Setting and the Vision Board. I have created a white board with “Music Goals/Plans of 2021” and at the TOP of that list is releasing mood to party as a single and that is coming TRUE!!!!

I was going to put another song as a single but it may be too much for me to dive into. I wish I could record more than one song but we have to see how I go first with doing one song for now! It has definitely kept me happy!

For now, I am just happy to be recording this one song and I will be spending four hours on it on Wednesday so that’s plenty of time for me to get it right (I think!) Last session I didn’t get to finish, but hopefully this session will be everything I dreamed of, and I can’t wait to share the single with you!

What type of music do you like to listen to?

Do you play an instrument?

I am going to collate a list of favourite artists in my next blog, and I hope you enjoyed reading about “my love for music”!

My TOP 5 Books to read this year in 2021 (PART 1)

The following five books are a few books that I would recommend to read for the year of 2021. I actually have a signed copy by Charles Spencer himself for number 2 which is exciting and thrilling nonetheless.

I am taking my time with these reads as the first one is quite detailed and full of lots of information. Highly interesting and intellectual and I find it knowledgeable and it probably could lean towards the word, scholarly. I added three books in the following picture that aren’t in the blog but I may do something about the book on Victoria by A.N. Wilson. I started reading it in Scarborough and still have yet to finish that one as I went on a rushed shopping day to Koorong not too long ago and bought all those books I blogged about previously.

Here is an account for each book and I hope you enjoy reading! 📖

1. Charles Dickens: A Life by Claire Tomalin

Charles Dickens was a phenomenal writer. His novels are read the world over and he enriched the English Language. He mocked power and greed while speaking up for ordinary people. His public readings brought adoring crowds, and he was seen as a cheerful family man. Yet there was a darker Dickens whose demons drove him to reject his wife, fail his children, break with friends and conduct a secret love affair in his last years. In this book, Claire Tomalin gives us the best account yet of the man, his works, his times and, most of all, his extraordinary genius. It is powerful and remarkable as said by “The Times”.

2. To catch a king – Charles Spencer

How did the most wanted man in the country outwit the greatest manhunt in British History? King Charles I was beheaded in 1649 outside his palace of Whitehall, when his eldest son, Charles, returned in 1651 to fight for his throne, he was defeated by Cromwells armies at the battle of Worcester. Expecting to meet the fate of his father, Charles fled for his life. From hiding in an oak tree to travelling as one half of an eloping couple and observing celebrations of his rumoured demise, he relied on grit, fortitude and good luck to survive.

In this gripping action packed, true adventure story, best selling author Charles Spencer draws on extensive archive material, Pepys account and many others to retell the epic adventure of Charles II.

3. Henry V – William Shakespeare

Henry V is a history play by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written near 1599. It tells the story of King Henry V of England, focusing on events immediately before and after the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years’ War.

4. The Children’s Book – A S Byatt

Famous author Olive Wellwood writes a special private book, bound in different colours, for each of her children. In their rambling house near Romney Marsh they play in a story book world but their lives, and those of their rich cousins and their friends, the son and daughter of a curator at the new Victoria and Albert Museum, are already inscribed with mystery. Each family carries its own secrets.

They grow up in the golden summers of Edwardian times, but as the sons rebel against their parents and the girls dream of independent futures, they are unaware that in the darkness ahead they will be betrayed unintentionally by the adults who love them.

The “Irish Times” says the book is “compelling and tremendously enriching an intricate tale, energetically fashioned by a spinning fairy in the attic, an indefatigable storyteller.”

Tips for Thriving as You Adapt to Life During and After COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected people around the world. Even with restrictions lifting, many individuals continue to struggle. The United Nations has even warned of a global mental health crisis as a result. Whether you are getting back out into the world or prefer to seek comfort in your own home, it’s important to take care of yourself during this time.

Making your mental and physical health a priority is paramount. That said, you aren’t in this alone. There are many tools and resources available to help you, even if you aren’t ready to leave the house yet. Read on for tips on how you can ensure you are looking and feeling your best as you adapt to life during and after COVID-19.

Revamp your home.

Your home should be a place that brings you comfort and makes you feel safe. Clearing bad energy from your home will create a more positive space. If you notice you’re feeling anxious or your family is arguing more than usual, it’s time for a deep cleanse. Open the windows to let in light and air, use a sage stick throughout the house, and get rid of clutter.

Pay special attention to the bedroom. Creating a relaxing environment here ensures you get the rest you need at night. According to The Age, as many as 40% of Australians don’t get sufficient sleep. Aim for at least seven hours per night. To make sure this is the case, eliminate extra light and noise from the room. You can buy blackout curtains and a white noise machine, for example.

Set new fitness goals.

If you’re still having trouble sleeping, ramp up your exercise habits. Physical activity will help ensure you are tired when the time comes to catch your zzzs. Exercise also promotes mental and physical health and is known to combat depression and anxiety. Setting goals can motivate you to work out harder. If you currently run one mile every day, for example, aim to increase it to two.

Look good for yourself.

If you’ve been spending more time in sweatpants and less time wearing makeup, you may be feeling the blahs. When you aren’t socializing as much or dealing with work-from-home stress, it can be hard to motivate yourself to put on a nice outfit or do your makeup. However, finding something stylish to wear, fixing your hair and trying a new eyeliner technique can make a big difference in your mood. To make sure you follow through, splurge on the mascara or eyeshadow collection you’ve been eyeing, or sign up for a new beauty subscription box. That little bit of pampering will go a long way

Tackle your anxiety head-on.

Anxiety isn’t just unpleasant mentally. It also impacts the body negatively. Anxiety can lead to headaches, a racing heart, difficulty breathing, upset stomach, and loss of libido. Be proactive about keeping anxiety at bay. Exercise is one way to help. You should also avoid triggers like alcohol and caffeine, which tend to worsen anxiety symptoms.

If you are still struggling, don’t be afraid to seek professional help. Mindfulness health and wellness coaching is one option. Mindfulness combats anxiety by forcing you to focus on the present moment. You can learn practical approaches to avoiding anxiety, like breathing exercises and meditation.

Find ways to socialize.

Another important step to combatting anxiety is to socialize. Seeing friends and family reminds you that you are supported and loved. Socializing is also proven to have concrete health benefits. It can lower your risk of dementia, for example, and even contribute to a longer life. Even if you are still socially distancing, find ways to connect—for example, via video calls.

With these tips, you can start paving the path to a healthier and happier life. The COVID-19 experience has been difficult but if you prioritize self-care, you will find yourself thriving.
