“Delightful Days in Dunsborough”

Featured

On the 16th and 17th of August I took a trip to the South West of Western Australia. The holiday was set for Dunsborough, but also planned Margaret River and Cowaramup as well. Planning was fun and I loved packing bathers, a book, and dresses even though it was Winter in Australia.

On the way to Dunsborough we stopped of at the Bunbury Markets and I couldn’t believe how big it was! Lots of tomatoes….. plus vegetables, fruits and I got a $10 fruit watermelon juice which was absolutely delicious.

Flowers in Bunbury Markets were gorgeous!

I stopped by to smell the roses.

After about two hours drive from Bunbury, or maybe an hour or so we arrived at the motel which was called the Bay Village Resort and Spa Dunsborough. It was small but a 4 star hotel. I thought it was a cute place and I was able to place my laptop on the round dining table, and relax on the couches while watching The Voice that night. I did my nails, when I went to the Dunsborough Centrepoint shopping centre I bought a nice coloured nail polish, and a few essentials for staying there.

How cute was my little room! All set out elegantly, and nice bathroom towels. It felt luxurious.

We set off on a small adventure on the Monday, but did most things on the Tuesday.

Of course, I found a gorgeous little bookstore that had a book I loved! Text and Co had a lovely lady that I was able to chat with. I went into this store the Monday and Tuesday! and she was delightful to talk to – I was eager to buy a particular book but didn’t yet.

Books Books Books!

On the Tuesday we went straight for coffee at Merchant and Maker which was in the town of Dunsborough, and I loved to look around at the products on display! It is like a general store where they sell health products but also serve tea and coffee etc. You can follow Merchant and Maker on Instagram.

They had a variety of products. I didn’t buy anything, but I enjoyed my Skinny Weak Latte!

Next stop was Indian summer and Co. Which I had a look at the products and candles firstly, but then when I looked at the clothes I was completely drawn to a $50 white dress on SALE!!!! It was stunning, and casual and flows that I felt I HAD to buy it! It was meant to be….. The shop is an Australian brand that have floaty, feminine pieces that give a beauty to women that love to shop all things vintage inspired dresses. You can follow them on Facebook at Indian Summer and Co.

These are the gorgeous products that were on display.

We then went to the Dunsborough Shopping Mall, and I had heard about a Health Food Store, that we decided to check out Naturaliste Health which is on the corner of where there are shops lined along where the car park is.

I had another coffee, and then a Monet Toastie! It was the best toastie I had ever tasted and I am being totally honest.

I loved the little health food store. It was like a stop by place where you can get coffee and food, and also buy products in the store inside.

They do the most amazing IGTV videos on their Instagram page! Full of vibrancy and good energy!

Can you tell the toastie was DELICIOUS!?

We then took off on a drive to Margaret River, and went to Happs Wines. It was like entering into an adventure, it was magical seeing the beautiful scenery, and there wasn’t just wine.

There was pottery! It was like a small museum with lots of knick knacks, and antique looking things. I wasn’t taken by anything as I am not a pottery person but it was interesting going in there.

I headed to the back area where you can probably see on my TikTok that I did some wine tasting. I decided to buy the Fuchsia Happs Wine, as it was soft and fruity and my kind of Rose’! We went to Margaret River town and also Cowaramup and I bought this lovely picnic basket along with some food type goodies.

The book “The Paris Library” was from Text and Co. Yes, I decided to buy the book for $35.

We then went to Stella Bella Wines in Margaret River, and did a bit of wine tasting.

A few vineyards! and the sun was shining on a Winter day! We were so lucky!

After we had experienced these little towns we went back to the motel and I decided to have a little dip in the spa. Well, not a dip, more like sitting…..

Went back to the motel, and got ready to go out and have dinner. We went to a little Thai place that was right next to the motel and I had the usual Chicken and Cashew Nuts! My favourite Thai dish! The restaurant was called Bamboo Spice. You can follow them on their Facebook page Bamboo Spice here.

The next day we had another coffee at Naturaliste Health and another toastie – Thos Monet toasties are just the best! Then headed back home. We stopped by a friends coffee place in Bunbury Paper Route where they supplied the cakes. So I had a Spiced Chai Carrot Cake and took it home! Follow them on Instagram at Paper Route.

The 2 days holiday was amazing and I would do it all over again. In fact, in January I will be going to Busselton so I will be planning to go to all those places again.

I had a ball, and absolutely loved it all! I also bought Dandelion tea from the health food store which is great health wise! Please visit my Health and Wellness website which I will update with a Roast Veggie Pasta recipe up on the blog tonight! Will post on this blog too for your reference, just so you don’t miss out!

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the small time I had in Dunsborough. It was “delightful” those two “days”!

Choose suitable red lipstick

First of all, suitable red lipstick is the most important factor. The right red tone will help bring out your face. You can find it with 3 steps below:

  • Find your undertone
  • Determine what you want: to match or contrast
  • Complement your complexion

Besides, the textures of lipstick, including 2 two main types are matte and liquid, also impacts on the effects of lipstick. It’s relevant to lasting-color time and ability to conceal the lip’s blemishes. In common, matte texture is better at lasting color and liquid texture is better at concealing lip’s blemishes.

Makeup styles with red lipstick

Red is a remarkable color and often considered as evening lipstick color. But you definitely use red lipstick for daily makeup. Not just day or night, it’s also suitable for almost all situations. Thus, when to wear red lipstick is no problem. You can choose this lipstick color whenever you want to be more attractive and energetic.

Classic red lipstick makeup with smoky eyes and cat-eye liner is the perfect choice for evening events. In case of daily makeup, all you should do is skip the eye makeup step and replace with slim eyeliner.

Lip makeup tools

To gain the perfect lips with red lipstick, don’t forget to use lip makeup tools such as lip liner and lip brush to apply lipstick steadily on your lips. Lip concealer is another tool you should use to make it easier applying.

Red lip outfits

If you have a good makeup look with red lipstick, bring it out with suitable outfits, going with your makeup style. Classic red lipstick is the popular red tone because it helps you combine outfits easily.

Lip care

Another important factor to make perfect lips with passionate red color of french lipsticks is lip care. Dry lips with flaked skin can’t be ideal to apply any lipsticks. To care for your lips, there are 2 main steps, including exfoliation and moisturization.

Exfoliation

There are some notices about exfoliation you should remember:

  • Exfoliate your lips 1-2 times per week and avoid over exfoliation
  • You can use an exfoliating product for lips or do it yourself with common ingredients such as sugar, cinamon, etc.
  • Treat gently with your lips because it’s rather thin skin and vulnerable. Don’t scrub hard.
  • Scrub in small circles for best effect.

Moisturization

Like other skin parts of our body, lips need to be moisturized for smoothness. There are more moisturizing products for the body and face than lip. In case you have Asian skin, let’s consider these products from Korea. Korean moisturisers that will suit Asian skin now are very easy to buy with affordable prices.

However, there are still thousands of moisturizing products for lips which are called lip balm or lip gloss. In case you want to use organic products for your lips, moisturizing ingredients such as olive oil, honey, etc. can be the perfect choices. You can directly apply them on your lips before sleeping.

A List of my Favourite Author Blogs

Featured

This week has been a little more hectic compared to my normal lifestyle of listening to music, watching my favourite TV shows and movies on Netflix or Google play, and reading a few books here and there and then using my new laptop to play my digital piano and record some songs for fun. I have started volunteering at Save the Children in Malaga which is a 10 minute drive down the road from me and I was excited to be starting there yesterday as they put me straight onto the “books”! in the warehouse. It is a fun job and I think for now it is the perfect job for me three days a week as I don’t have a permanenent full time job or anything, but I have one thing in the pipes music wise, so lets hope that works out down the line but that is another story for another time! I will keep you updated!

So, I started on unpacking books, and putting them into their categories, and I learnt a lot already just from the first two hours of working there!
I even remembered when they had a box for Art that that was the number 700 from the Dewey Decimal Classification System, so my brain was quite on par library wise!

It is so fun to be able to do the work, but lets see how its goes down the track! I recognised a lot of authors names, Dan Brown, Robert Ludlum, Di Morissey, you will always recognise author names when working in books, and so I have decided to make this post a little more delightful and create a list of my favourite authors names but also put their blog link with it so it gives you the chance to be able to check them out!!!!

My first and favourite one is:

1. Carrie Turansky – carrieturansky.com – this is such a stunning page and my favourite book of hers is “The Governess of Highland Hall”. I have probably mentioned that way too many times before! Her latest release is “No Journey too far” and I have read the rest of the Edwardian Bride Series and Shine like the Dawn. I want to get No Ocean too wide and Across the blue. You can sign up to her newsletter on her website and she also has a Book List!

2. Alena Kate Pettitt – of “The Darling Academy” – I just absolutely love the writings of her book Ladies Like Us as she goes through such beautiful topics such as Being a lady, being a darling!, emotional and social intelligence, and poise. My favourite section was on Defining your goals and aspirations as it really honed in on setting lifetime goals, and attitudes of the heart! It is beautiful written and you will not be disappointed if you purchase Ladies like us. She also has another book called English Etiquette which I want to get for myself! You can buy her books HERE.

3. DickensBlog – a Blog for all things Dickens! Here you can experience a blog page that promotes Charles Dickens’ books. There is a book you can get through this page called The Gospel in Dickens: Selections from His Work. It is $18US. I particularly liked the fact that on the 6th September 2020 that did an online conversation with a descendant of his!!! You will find this on the blog page link provided if you click on “A blog for all things Dickens!” You can easily subscribe.

4. Natasha Lester – This is particularly one of my favourites as she shares her “Writing Routine. ” She writes blogs that are more succinct and concise. For example, you should read How to Fit Writing Into Your Life: 6 Tips Based on My Writing Process on her website at natashalester.com.au. If you are a writer yourself, then articles and blogs are the way to go for you to read. It will give you so much more inspiration and will drive you to be a better writer!!!

I have the first two of her books.

The Paris seamstress

You will find this picture on my Instagram page.

The French photographer

She blogs every Tuesday and really sets her time working on her novels as you can see through her writing and blogs. So keep your eyes peeled every Tuesday, and her newsletters go out every Tuesday as well. So make sure to subscribe to her newsletter on the right hand side of the page/website.

I am excited to see her bring out The Paris Secret, but I am still on The Paris Seamstress and sooooooo excited and looking forward to reading the French Photographer as it looks completely stunning.

I don’t want to overload you with too many author blog pages, so I will stick to four for now and if I think of any more that I tend to read for myself I will create a Part 2!

So keep your eyes peeled incase I do do a part 2 of this blog. I hope that you enjoyed reading about these four favourite author blog pages of mine, and that you click on them and browse through them. There are some gems! and you never know some giveaways might be around the corner!

Historical Fiction Writing with Universal Class – with City of Joondalup – Whitfords Library

INTRODUCTION

What Is Historical Fiction?

I thought I would first show the definition of Historical Fiction to pinpoint what we are looking at exactly.

Historical, adj. 1. Of, relating to, or of the character of history. 2. Based on or concerned with events in history.

Fiction, n. 4.a. A literary work whose content is produced by the imagination and is not necessarily based on fact. b. The category of literature comprising works of this kind, including novels, short stories, and plays.

Writing historical fiction is simply writing a story that is set in the past which is usually during a significant time period. For example, the Victorian Period is the period during Queen Victoria’s reign. I find this period particularly interesting and a favourite.

The main thing that I will learn in this course is to do research to come up with the correct setting based on facts. It can also include real people but does not necessarily have to.

When You are writing fiction, it is very important to do your homework so that you can really pinpoint the mannerisms, costumes, conditions,  etc, in order to make the novel authentic. In fact, they also say that historical fiction novels can take years to write because of the amount of research you have to do when writing.

Historical writing includes historical figures placed in imaginary situations

Fictional characters placed in actual, factual historical periods of time or situations

(for example, you can place your fictional character “Alexandra” in Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812); or you can have variations of both.

For example, you could place historical figures in settings they have been proven to have been in or fictional characters in fictional settings in a real period of history.

To recap, historical fiction is writing that is fictional but in which elements from history play the main roles.

When you choose to write historical fiction, you are doing two things at once – you are both the historian AND the storyteller. You are going to tell your readers what happened at the time and what it felt like.

We are going to explore the genre.

We will discuss the various subgenres, the types of characters and settings you may want to explore, character motivations, conflict, plot, plot mapping, editing, and pacing, plus agents, queries, and so much more.

You will walk away at the end of this course feeling as though you know exactly what you want to write and exactly how to write it.

I have submitted my Introduction online and written what book I want to write and then did a multiple choice exam at the end.

You may have to be a member of the City of Joondalup library to access the course.

It is under Online Resources in the Spydus catalogue.

My current list of Library Books – Girrawheen Library – City of Wanneroo

Today I went to the Girrawheen Library which is a part of the City of Wanneroo here in Western Australia. I picked up FOUR books which I will be listing in this particular blog.

You will find the first book really shows that it is the type of novel I would DEFINITELY read. Just look at the FIRST WORD! But it is BOOK FIVE of the “The Selection Series”.

The Selection Series is a series of five young adult novels written by Kiera Cass. It focuses on The Selection, a competition for the current king’s heir for a hand in marriage. Source: Wikipedia

A selection can ONLY have ONE winner. A PRINCESS only has one HEART. ❣

When Eadlyn became the first princess of Illea to hold her own selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty five suitors but as events at the palace force her even further into the spotlight she realised that she might not be content remaining alone.

She still isn’t sure she will find the fairy – tale ending her parents did twenty years ago but sometimes the HEART has a way of surprising you…….

“CAPTIVATING”

and filled with JUST the right amount of SWOON!
